Sean Williams has over 30 years of work experience in the arts sector. Sean is currently the Head of Programme Office at Imperial War Museums, a position they have held since 2019. Prior to this, Sean worked at the British Council from 1992 to 2018, where they held various roles including Director of Operations, Arts; Head of Art Services; Head of Art Finance; Registrar, Visual Arts; Circulating Exhibitions Manager, Visual Arts; and Exhibition Assistant, Visual Arts. In these roles, Sean was responsible for overseeing the efficient running of arts programs, diversifying income streams, managing financial targets, curating exhibitions, providing specialist advisory services, and ensuring compliance with funding and statutory reporting requirements. Sean also played a role in the care, handling, and packing of art works.

Sean Williams attended Sutton High School for Boys in Plymouth, Devon from 1977 to 1984. After completing their secondary education, they enrolled in London Metropolitan University from 1984 to 1988. There, they obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in Humanities/Humanistic Studies.
