Virgil Miller

Virgil Miller is president of Aflac Group Insurance Company and executive vice president, chief operating officer of Aflac U.S. Mr. Miller is responsible for the strategic leadership and execution of the Aflac Group P&L along with leading operations for Aflac U.S. comprised of sales operations, service operations, information technology, data, analytics, innovation and the customer experience.

Mr. Miller joined Aflac in March 2004 and has served in many roles of increasing responsibility, including director of premium reconciliation and billing activities; second vice president, policy administration; second vice president, customer service center; vice president of client services, customer assurance organization, marketing, technology, transformation and innovation; senior vice president, chief administration officer of internal operations; chief operating officer and head of Aflac Group; and now president.

He joined the U.S. Marine Corps at 17. After his military career, including serving in Operation Desert Storm, he entered his first corporate management job with Walmart. He later transitioned into the world of insurance and spent 12 years in various leadership roles with Geico before joining Aflac.

Mr. Miller earned the Business Intelligence Group 2020 Big Innovation award for excellence in customer service, and in previous years the prestigious gold Stevie award and was named Insurance Executive of the Year. He has also been named one of the most influential leaders in Corporate America by Black Enterprise and Savoy Magazines.

He earned an MBA from Wesleyan University, a bachelor's degree in accounting from Georgia College & State University, and Six Sigma/PMP certifications from Villanova University.

Mr. Miller currently serves on the Board of Directors of the South Carolina State Chamber, Prisma Health Midlands Foundation, Palmetto Business Forum, Midlands Business Leadership Group, Columbia Urban League, the Group Insurance Executive Council, and the Board of Trustees for Claflin University. He is a Director for Aflac Northern Ireland. And, he is also currently the active Co-Chair of the Southeast U.S. Japan Association having been selected by the Governor’s office to represent Georgia and six other southern states in fostering ongoing relationships with Japanese businesses who invest in the U.S.
