Krishnaraj Varma has a diverse range of work experience in the field of engineering. Krishnaraj started their career as an intern at National Aerospace Laboratories, where they derived surface models and ray tracing parameters for aircraft communication devices. Krishnaraj then worked as a consultant at Tata Consultancy Services, providing maintenance and production support for Market Regulation software systems.

Varma then joined Virginia Tech as a Graduate Research Assistant, where they conducted research on perceptual weights for JPEG2000 and developed a new algorithm for estimating speech direction in reverberant conditions. Krishnaraj also taught Digital Signal Processing and Filter Design as an instructor.

Afterward, Varma worked at Hughes Network Systems as a Principal Engineer, where they served as the technical lead for designing hardware accelerators for modem SoCs. Krishnaraj also developed an in-house infrastructure using SystemC and Boost libraries.

Prior to that, they graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Applied Electronics & Instrumentation Engineering from the College of Engineering Trivandrum between 1993 and 1997.
