Simona Aufiero

Simona Aufiero has a diverse work experience in the field of bioinformatics and research. Starting in 2008, they worked as a Trainee at Biogem scarl, where they collaborated in the design of wet lab experiments and executed genetic and molecular biology techniques. In 2012, they worked as a Junior Analyst at Threads.it, where they conducted statistical analysis of soil parameters and supported decision-making processes.

In 2013, Aufiero joined the BioComputing Laboratory at the University of Padova as a Bioinformatics Scientist. Their responsibilities included designing research projects, using bioinformatic tools for structural and functional analyses of proteins, and interpreting research findings.

From 2015 to 2018, Aufiero worked at AMC Medical Research BV as a Research Doctorate in Bioinformatics. Simona collaborated with a multidisciplinary team to design research projects, developed bioinformatics pipelines/tools to analyze omics data, and reported research results through presentations and project reports.

Aufiero then moved to Amsterdam UMC in 2019 as a Senior Bioinformatics Scientist. In this role, they planned and organized research projects, collaborated with a multidisciplinary team in project design, and developed machine/deep learning models for the analysis of electrocardiogram records to identify genetic cardiac diseases.

Currently, Aufiero holds the position of Head of Bioinformatics at Imuno Therapeutics, starting in 2022. Their responsibilities include planning and streamlining the team's objectives and priorities, leading and coaching a team of bioinformaticians, and defining process development.

Throughout their career, Aufiero has demonstrated expertise in bioinformatics, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, and utilizing various research methodologies and techniques.

Simona Aufiero completed their Education in a chronological order. Simona obtained a Research Doctorate degree in Bioinformatics from the University of Amsterdam. This was achieved between the years 2015 and 2018. Prior to that, Simona earned a Master's degree in Genetic Sciences and Technologies from Università degli Studi del Sannio-Benevento, completing it from 2008 to 2010. Simona's Bachelor's degree in Biotechnology was acquired from the same university, with studies taking place from 2005 to 2008.

In terms of additional certifications, Simona has completed several courses on project management. Specifically, they obtained certifications in "Project Execution: Running the Project," "Agile Project Management," "Project Planning: Putting It All Together," "Project Initiation: Starting a Successful Project," and "Foundations of Project Management." All of these certifications were acquired through the online learning platform Coursera, with the most recent certification obtained in March 2023.
