Caterina Bigoni

Caterina Bigoni has over eight years of work experience in various roles. Currently, they work at INAIT as a Product Owner, a position they have held since January 2022. Prior to that, they worked as a Research Scientist in Machine Learning and Mathematics at INAIT, starting in February 2021.

From 2014 to 2020, Caterina worked at EPFL (École polytechnique fédérale de Lausanne) in different roles. Caterina served as a PhD Doctoral Assistant in Computational Mathematics and Simulation Science, where they conducted their PhD thesis on numerical methods for structural anomaly detection. Caterina also worked as a Teaching Assistant and Project Supervisor, co-supervising Master student research projects and assisting in bachelor-level courses. Additionally, they were a Master Thesis Student and Graduate Research Assistant, focusing on WENO methods and mesh adaptation.

In 2016, Caterina held the position of Vice President and Start-up Liaison Director at the Innovation Forum, where they organized scientific events, promoted the local startup ecosystem, and coordinated a team. Caterina also worked as a Translator of a mathematics textbook at Editions Digilex from 2013 to 2015.

Furthermore, Caterina gained industry experience as an R&D Intern in the Computational Electromagnetism unit at ABB in 2014. Caterina'sresponsibilities involved improving a software for the numerical approximation of Maxwell equations.

In 2013, they co-founded and organized events for STIL (Salon des Technologies et de l'Innovation de Lausanne), an engineering student association aimed at creating a technology forum at EPFL.

Caterina Bigoni completed their Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Computational Mathematics at EPFL (École polytechnique fédérale de Lausanne) from 2016 to 2020. Prior to that, they pursued a Master of Science (MSc) in Computational Science and Engineering at EPFL from 2013 to 2015.

In 2010, Caterina Bigoni obtained a Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Ingegneria matematica from Politecnico di Milano. During this period, they also had an educational experience at Grenoble INP - UGA.

Before their tertiary education, Caterina Bigoni completed their secondary education at Liceo Scientifico Lorenzo Mascheroni from 2005 to 2010, specializing in PNI (Piano Nazionale Informatica). Caterina also attended the European School Culham in England for one year in 2006-2007.

In addition to their formal education, Caterina Bigoni has obtained several certifications. These include a Leadership Essentials Certificate from IMD in April 2023, a Professional Scrum Product Owner™ I (PSPO I) certification from Scrum.org in December 2021, and certifications from Coursera such as Fundamentals of GIS in December 2020, Sequence Models - DeepLearning.AI in November 2020, and Introduction to Structured Query Language (SQL) in October 2020. Caterina also holds a PRINCE2™ Foundation Certificate in Project Management from AXELOS Global Best Practice obtained in September 2020.

Furthermore, Caterina Bigoni has language proficiency certifications. Caterina achieved a First Certificate in English (FCE) with grade A from the British Council in 2009 and a Key English Test (KET) passed with merit in 2005. Additionally, they obtained an IELTS Academic certification with a grade of 7.5/9 from the British Council in December 2011.
