Michael Burns

Michael Burns has a strong background in the financial industry with significant experience as a Vice President & Trust Officer. Michael worked at Independence Bank from 2018 to present, where they hold the same role. Prior to that, they worked at United Bank & Capital Trust Co. for 14 years in the same role. Before their career in banking, they worked at Fifth Third Bank as a Trust Administrative Officer for 5 years. Michael began their professional journey at Commonwealth Technology Inc. as a Biologist for a year.

Michael Burns attended Henry Clay High School from 1990 to 1994. Michael obtained a Bachelor's degree in Biology from the University of Kentucky from 1994 to 1998. In addition to their education, Michael has certifications as a Registered Tax Return Preparer from the Internal Revenue Service, obtained in 2012, and as a Certified Trust & Financial Advisor from the Institute of Certified Bankers, obtained in 2002.
