Alex Dounets

Alex Dounets has over 19 years of work experience in various roles.

Alex began their career in 2001 as a QA Laboratory Assistant at Canadian Uniform Ltd.

In 2004, they worked as a Laboratory Assistant at the University of Guelph, where they set up and maintained chemical laboratories.

From 2006 to 2009, they were an Operations Technician II at Google, where they provided on-call service for server maintenance and developed repair processes.

Alex then joined Mandel Scientific Company Inc in 2010 as an Analytical Technical Sales Representative, managing accounts and focusing on analytical equipment.

In 2011, they became a Systems Administrator at IMAX, supporting graphical artists and maintaining server infrastructure.

From 2012 to 2014, they worked as a Systems and Network Administrator at KANETIX, handling Linux systems support and network administration.

Alex then moved to shomi™ and worked as a DevOps Engineer from 2014 to 2016, where they created cloud-based environments and collaborated with development teams.

Since 2016, Alex has been at Loblaw Digital as a Senior SRE, where they configure and manages cloud infrastructure and builds CI/CD pipelines.

Finally, in 2020, they joined Index Exchange as a Team Lead/Sr SRE.

Alex Dounets completed a Bachelor of Science Honours degree in Biochemistry from the University of Guelph from 2001 to 2006. They also obtained two additional certifications in the field of cloud computing. In December 2017, they completed the "Google Cloud Platform Fundamentals: Core Infrastructure" course from Coursera. In July 2018, Alex became a "Google Cloud Certified Professional - Cloud Architect" from Google Cloud.
