Mr US Bhartia is the Chairman and Managing Director of India Glycols Limited (IGL). Mr Bhartia has a graduate degree in commerce, with honors, from Kolkata University. Under Mr Bhartia’s dynamic leadership, IGL pioneered the manufacturing of BioMEG, BioEO and derivatives from renewable agro feedstock, with a low carbon footprint. His concern for environmental issues is the driving force behind the company promoting products based on renewable, natural, agro and waste feedstock.

During Mr Bhartia’s tenure, the company transformed from a US$150 million company to a US$550 million company. IGL has grown from producing mono ethylene glycols at a single plant at Kashipur to multiple products at plants in four different locations. He steered IGL through the global economic crisis, and diversified the company's product portfolio to non-chemical segments such as guar gum, herbal pharmaceuticals and industrial gases, among others. The company now has offices in 10 cities across India and exports to more than 50 countries.

Mr Bhartia received the ‘Business Leader of the Year – Innovation’ award for 2013 at Chemtech Foundation’s CEW Leadership and Excellence Awards, as well as the Udyog Ratna award in 2005. IGL also won the Grand Gold Award -2012 by Monde Selection, Brussels, for the third year in a row, for its Extra Neutral Alcohol product, under his stewardship.

With Mr Bhartia at the helm, India Glycols adopted a business excellence driven approach focused on sustainable development. The green focus is complemented through effective deployment of safe, eco-friendly, efficient processes and state-of-the art technologies and systems. The company has been conferred with several major safety awards during his tenure. The group has also been actively involved in philanthropic activities such as providing financial and logistical support during natural calamities, ensuring support to the underprivileged during extreme weather conditions and periodically organizing blood donation camps.
