Sunkara Yugandar Rao

Associated with India Insure since August 2017, Mr. Rao spearheads the reinsurance business expansion in the African region. Mr. Rao comes with over 30 years of experience in the Insurance Industry and has had a wide exposure to both the domestic and international markets. He started his career with New India Assurance and as part of his tenure there, he handled operations in Kuwait and for 2 years and was the MD & CEO of Prestiege Assurance, Nigeria (a subsidiary of New India) for about 4 years. After a short stint in the National Insurance company, Mr. Rao moved to GIC Re as Director & General Manager in 2012. He successfully set up and operationalized GIC RE South Africa and retired as MD & CEO of GIC RE South Africa after ensuring almost 40% growth in premiums in the first year of operations of the company and also obtaining an S&P BB+ rating for GIC RE South Africa.
