Bethany Thomas is an experienced education leader with a focus on STEM/STEAM programming. Currently serving as the VP of Education, Programs and Interns at the Indiana State Museum & Historic Sites since December 2017, Bethany also holds the position of Executive Director/Education Director at Maker Youth Foundation/1st Makerspace since February 2016, overseeing curriculum development and partnership cultivation for maker-centered learning experiences. Previously, Bethany was the STEM Scout Executive at the Crossroads of America Council, Boy Scouts of America, promoting STEM Scouts and cultivating community partnerships. Earlier roles include Education Manager at the Children's Discovery Museum, where Bethany managed diverse educational programs, and Teaching Collection Manager at the St. Louis Science Center, focusing on program development and collections management. Bethany began the professional journey as a Collections Assistant at the Indianapolis Children's Museum after earning a BA in Anthropology from Indiana University Indianapolis.

The historic sites are located statewide, stretching from Rome City in northeastern Indiana to Evansville in the southwest.
