Mackenzie Higgins serves as lead Policy Advisor for Mayor Joe Hogsett. In that role, she is responsible for developing and leading the executive branch policy agenda. A key focus of her position is providing in-depth analysis of social, economic, and public policy trends to lead initiatives aimed at creating economic opportunities for Marion County families.
Mackenzie joined the Hogsett administration in 2016. Prior to that, she was a high school Spanish teacher at Indianapolis Lighthouse Charter School.
Mackenzie graduated from University of Tennessee in Knoxville, and she received her master's degree in public affairs from the Paul H. O'Neill School of Public and Environmental Affairs at IU Bloomington.
