Rebecca Kicker

Rebecca Kicker has a diverse work experience, beginning in 2014 as a Summer Intern at Sandia National Laboratories, where they worked on various projects in the office and had limited experience in the lab. In 2016, they joined the Undergraduate Pipeline Network summer research program at the University of New Mexico School of Medicine, where they investigated the effects of prenatal alcohol exposure on executive function in mice using touch-screen cognitive testing and presented their research at the 2016 SACNAS conference. Rebecca also worked as an Administrative Secretary and Student Office Assistant at the New Mexico Institute of Mining and Technology, where they received calls for the vice president, assistant, and university clearly and professionally, and responsibly handled confidential documents. In 2017, they worked as a Research Intern at the Institute for Complex Additive Systems Analysis, where they supported projects in machine learning and data analysis. Rebecca also worked as a Laboratory Technician at The University of New Mexico School of Medicine, where they oversaw a behavioral experiment on a cohort of genetic knock-out mice using touch-screen testing, and analyzed KLimbic testing software data and maintained existing laboratory MATLAB scripts for data analysis. In 2019, they worked as a BIG Summer Research Intern at UCLA, where they conducted research in a computational laboratory setting and investigated the use of nonlinear machine learning models for predicting bulk sequencing signals from single-cell signal atlases. Finally, in 2020, they worked as a Software Engineer at Indica Labs.

Rebecca Kicker attended Volcano Vista High School from 2011 to 2015 and then went on to earn a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Computer Science and Biomedical Sciences from the New Mexico Institute of Mining and Technology in 2020.
