Paul Heijman has a diverse work experience spanning over two decades. Paul began their career in 1998 as a MIS at Mikohn Europe B.V. In 2000, they co-founded Photonic bv and worked as a developer until 2004. From 2004 to 2011, they worked at SOG ict as a Developer and VMware specialist. Paul then joined QNH in 2011 as a Technisch Consultant, where they focused on integration issues and worked until 2015. In 2015, Paul joined CM Telecom as a System Engineer, and from 2016 onwards, they have been working at INDICA. At INDICA, they initially served as a Senior Backend Developer and later took on the role of Senior Developer.

Paul Heijman completed several certifications in IT virtualisation from VMware. Paul obtained the VSP certification in 2009, followed by the VCP 4 certification in 2010. From 2011 to 2015, they pursued the VTSP certification and the VCP 5 certification. Alongside these certifications, they also attended Delft University of Technology from 1995 to 1998, although no degree or field of study information was provided for this period.
