Yvonne Johnson is the Managing Director and Co-Founder of Indicina. Yvonne has over ten years of experience in the financial industry, having worked in investment banking and strategy development.
Ms. Johnson began their career as an Investment Banking Associate at Merrill Lynch in 2008. Yvonne transitioned to First Bank of Nigeria Plc in 2009, where they eventually became the Head of Strategy and Corporate Development. In this role, Ms. Johnson was responsible for leading the strategy function for the Commercial Banking Group, including its local and international subsidiaries.
During their time at First Bank of Nigeria Plc, Ms. Johnson made a number of notable contributions, including leading the transition team of the incoming Managing Director, restructuring the Bank's operating model, and developing prioritized strategic initiatives for the Managing Director's dashboard. Additionally, Ms. Johnson supported the incoming Managing Director of the UK subsidiary with the turnaround medium-term strategy.
Ms. Johnson also played a key role in divesting the 100% stake in the primary mortgage subsidiary and led the team that negotiated the joint venture with a leading Indian mortgage bank. Yvonne was a representative member of several key committees, including the Asset & Liability Committee, Finance & Operations Committee, Group IT Steering Committee, Enterprise Program Management Office, HoldCo Strategy Committee, and Strategy Implementation Steering Committee.
In 2018, Ms. Johnson left First Bank of Nigeria Plc to co-found Indicina. Indicina is a data-driven media company that is dedicated to changing the way people see Africa through data storytelling.
Yvonne Johnson has a Bsc from the University of Toronto in Computer Science and Mathematics. Yvonne also has a degree from Northwestern University - Kellogg School of Management.
