Vanessa Pillay has extensive work experience in finance and accounting roles. Vanessa is currently the Chief Financial Officer at INDOCHINO since May 2019. Previously, they worked at Microsoft SA from February 2012 to 2019, where they served as the Financial lead / Group Controller. In this role, they focused on promoting profitable growth and streamlining finance processes. Prior to Microsoft SA, Vanessa worked at Standard Bank Group as the PBB Head IT Finance from November 2010 to January 2012. Vanessa was responsible for supporting the strategic vision and financial objectives of the IT Systems Development department. Vanessa also worked at Sun Microsystems as a Finance Lead from August 2005 to November 2010, where they were involved in various financial activities such as reporting, budgeting, and compliance. Vanessa briefly worked at Oracle as a Finance Manager Services & Ops from January 2010 to July 2010. Vanessa started their career as an Audit Manager at an undisclosed company in 2003 and previously worked as a Trainee Accountant in 2002.

Vanessa Pillay completed their education in accounting and finance in 2001, earning a Bachelor of Commerce (BCom) degree from the University of KwaZulu-Natal. In 2004, they obtained the designation of Chartered Accountant (CA(SA)) after completing their studies in auditing at the South African Institute of Chartered Accountants.
