Zhang Jie

Mr. Zhang Jie has served as External Supervisor of Industrial and Commercial Bank of China Limited since November 2021. He is currently a professor and tutor for PhD students at Renmin University of China (RUC), Director of the International Monetary Institute of RUC, Distinguished Professor under the Chang Jiang Scholars Program of the Chinese Ministry of Education, Prominent Educator under the National Special Support Program for High-level Talents (“Ten Thousand People Program”), a candidate for the “Hundred, Thousand and Ten Thousand Personnel Program in the New Century”, and a recipient of the Special Government Allowance by the State Council of China. He is engaged in the study of institutional finance, Chinese financial regulations and financial development issues. He once served as Dean of the School of Finance of Shaanxi Institute of Finance and Economics (now Xi’an Jiaotong University), Deputy Dean of the School of Economics and Finance of Xi’an Jiaotong University, Deputy Dean of the School of Finance of Renmin University of China, the first Secretary General of the Steering Committee on the Teaching of Finance Majors at Institutions of Higher Education of the Chinese Ministry of Education, etc. He is concurrently a researcher at the Center for Financial Research of the Counsellors’ Office of the State Council, and a council member of China Finance Society. Mr. Zhang graduated from Shaanxi Institute of Finance and Economics, and received a Doctorate degree in Economics.
