Michael Bates

Michael Bates is an experienced operations analyst and structural engineer with a background in mechanical engineering. Currently serving as Lead Operations Analyst at Gas South since November 2021, Michael previously held roles including Senior Operations Analyst and Analyst II in Supply and Risk Management. Prior experience includes a tenure at Agilis Engineering, Inc. as a Structural Analysis Engineer, where responsibilities involved evaluating gas turbine components' structural integrity, and as a Project Manager overseeing a team focused on quality inspection processes. Michael's career also features roles as a Mechanical Engineer managing nonconformance quality evaluations and research during their undergraduate studies at Clemson University, which included biomimetic applications focusing on seahorse tails. Additionally, Michael gained hands-on experience in designing and testing power tools through a Co-Op program at Techtronic Industries while pursuing a Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering from Clemson University.
