Pilar Portela

Pilar Portela is the current President of Astra Smart Systems at Carl Data Solutions. Pilar has over 20 years of experience in business applications and e-business development. Prior to their current position, they were the Director of Enterprise Business Applications/PMO at SBM Site Services, LLC from 2010 to 2014. In that role, they were responsible for planning, directing and coordinating all activities related to business applications projects. Pilar ensured projects goals were accomplished on time and on budget and managed the entire business application portfolio that included internally developed, third party software applications across all phases, including design, deployment, maintenance and obsolescence of applications.

From 2001 to 2002, Portela was the e-Business Development Latin America for Exactus ERP. In that role, they were responsible for developing and implementing the e-business strategy for the Latin American market. Pilar also managed relationships with customers, partners and suppliers in the region.

Portela has a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from the Universidad de Belgrano in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

Pilar Portela has a Masters in Project Management from the Universidad para la Cooperación Internacional as well as a B. Admin in International Trade and Commerce from the Universidad Estatal a Distancia de Costa Rica. Pilar also has certification from the International Software Testing Qualifications Board in ISTQB CTFL.

They work with Gustavo Nobrega - Director, IT, Mike Mcdonald - VP, Engineering, and Cale Thomas - CFO. Pilar Portela reports to Greg Johnston, President, CEO, and Director.
