Kevin Wheeler

Kevin Wheeler has over 25 years of experience in the information security and technology industry. Kevin began their career in 1994 as a System Administrator at Electronic Data Systems (EDS). At EDS, Kevin managed Apple Macintosh-based servers, remote access systems, wide area networks and workstations for the manufacturing industry business unit. Kevin also implemented early versions of Microsoft enterprise technologies for Sprint PCS and other large customers, and provided technical support for EDS senior-level executives. In 1997, Kevin became a Senior Consultant at USWeb, where they managed, architected and deployed various virtual private networking, LAN/WAN infrastructure and Microsoft-based technology projects. Kevin also developed project methodologies to standardize the organization's consulting approach. In 1999, Kevin moved to Immedient as a Senior Consultant. In 2000, they joined Bank of America as a Vice President. In 2001, Kevin founded InfoDefense, a full-service information security solutions provider, and has served as its Managing Director since then. In this role, they have been responsible for developing information security assessment, governance, project and risk management methodologies; hiring, training and managing employees; creating marketing materials; developing client relationships; and managing sales cycles. Kevin has also created sales proposals; led information security projects; created and delivered information security training courses; managed computer incident response and forensic investigations; and performed information security audits and assessments for customers in the financial services, healthcare, retail, government and high-tech industries. In 2008, Kevin began teaching as an Adjunct Professor at Southern Methodist University, where they team taught a masters-level Information Security Risk and Governance class. In 2009, they joined Symantec as an Enterprise Security Strategist.

Kevin Wheeler obtained a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) degree in Entrepreneurship/Marketing from Baylor University - Hankamer School of Business in 1991. Prior to that, they obtained an Associate of Science (AS) degree in Business from Nassau Community College in 1988. Kevin also holds certifications from the National Security Agency (NSA), ISACA, and ISC2, including the NSA Infosec Evaluation Methodology (2004), NSA Infosec Assessment Methodology (2002), Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA) (2004), and Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) (2003).
