Paolo Dini has held various positions throughout their career. Paolo is currently working as a Local Currency Developer at Informal Systems since March 2022. Prior to this, they worked as a Senior Visiting Research Fellow and Associate Professorial Research Fellow at The London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE), where they also served as a Senior Research Fellow from November 2003 to July 2015. At LSE, Paolo was involved in research duties and was a partner in the OpenLaws.eu project, focusing on accessibility to legal and case history databases in Europe through an open innovation and community building approach.

Paolo Dini also worked at the University of Hertfordshire, where they served as a Visiting Research Fellow and Senior Research Fellow. Paolo'srole at Hertfordshire included coordinating the FP7 STREP in bio-computing project called BIOMICS, which had a budget of 1.83 million Euro and a duration of 3 years starting from October 2012. Paolo worked in the Royal Society Wolfson Biocomputation Research Lab, Centre for Computer Science and Informatics Research.

Additionally, Paolo Dini has experience as a Sustainable Development Consultant at Circular Economy Wales CIC from January 2020 to June 2020. Paolo also worked as an R&D Consultant at Sardex S.p.A. from August 2016 to December 2019. In the past, Paolo held positions at MIT Media Lab Europe, Philips, ViA Inc Wearable Computers, St. Olaf College, and Carleton College, primarily in research and teaching roles related to physics.

Paolo Dini obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Aeronautical and Mechanical Engineering from the University of California, Davis, from 1980 to 1983. Following this, they pursued a Master of Science degree in Aerospace Engineering at Penn State University, where they studied from 1984 to 1987. Paolo continued their education at Penn State University and completed a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Aerospace Engineering from 1987 to 1990.
