Ricky Smith has a diverse work experience spanning several decades. Ricky is currently working at Infratec as a Generation Asset Manager, a role they started in September 2022. Prior to that, they worked as a Supply Partnership Specialist at Infratec from October 2021 to September 2022.

Ricky was involved in the design, procurement, installation, and risk management of the Project West Wind, a wind farm project. Ricky also held roles as an Electrical Engineer (Wind) from January 2004 to September 2006, Performance Engineer (Electrical) in 2003, and Diagnostic Engineer (Electrical) from November 2001 to December 2002.
Ricky's career began at Aotea Electric, where they worked as an Electrician from January 1994 to March 1998. Prior to that, they gained experience as an Electrician Fitter - Charge Hand at Electricity Corporation of New Zealand from October 1989 to April 1991 and as an Electrical Fitter Apprentice from January 1985 to August 1989, also at Electricity Corporation of New Zealand.
Ricky Smith attended the University of Canterbury from 1998 to 2001, where they pursued a Bachelor of Electrical and Electronic Engineering (Hons) degree. Prior to that, from 1985 to 1989, they studied at the Technical Correspondence Institute. No specific degree or field of study was provided for their time at the Technical Correspondence Institute.
