Mahesh Lachyankar's work experience begins in 1992 as a Post-doctoral fellow at the Worcester Foundation for Biomedical Research, where they conducted research on Trk receptor signaling and neural stem cells. Mahesh then worked as an Instructor at the University of Massachusetts Medical School, where they coordinated stem cell research studies and studied signal transduction pathways in glioma and the roles of tumor suppressors. In 2000, they joined Boston Children's Hospital as a Fellow, focusing on stem cell research and the development of motor neuron protection methods. At Abbott Bioresearch Center from 2002 to 2008, they led molecular and cellular biology teams and contributed to the establishment of an Exploratory Network for early discovery efforts. From 2008 to 2011, at Pfizer Pharmaceuticals, Mahesh served as a Director and Site-Lead in Cambridge, MA., leading research in external environments for therapeutics and managing a lab. Mahesh also held the role of Senior Principal Scientist and contributed to the establishment of a centralized automated compound screening lab. Mahesh then became the Chief Scientific Advisor at a company in Boston, where they developed business strategies and built research teams. In 2011, they briefly served as the Director of BD for an independent company. From 2012 onwards, Mahesh worked independently as a Senior Consultant, providing innovation and consultancy services to various companies and academic institutions globally. Mahesh co-founded and served as the Chief Operating Officer of Mend Therapeutics, Inc., a nonprofit pharmaceutical company dedicated to combating diabetes and its complications. Currently, Mahesh Lachyankar holds the position of Chief Business Officer at INGENIA Therapeutics, where they are involved in the development of novel biotherapeutics for chronic diseases.
Mahesh Lachyankar completed their Bachelor of Science in Microbiology from Ruia College in Mumbai in the years 1982 to 1985. Following that, they pursued a Master of Science degree in Biotechnology from Maharaja Sayajirao University in Baroda, from 1985 to 1987. Mahesh then furthered their education by completing a PhD in Applied Biology from the University of Mumbai, from 1987 to 1992.
