Dan Hinkel

Dan Hinkel is an accomplished journalist with extensive experience in investigative reporting. Currently serving as a Senior Reporter at Injustice Watch since March 2023, Hinkel previously held the role of Investigative Reporter at the Illinois Answers Project from March 2022 to March 2023. Hinkel's tenure at The Chicago Tribune lasted over a decade, where reporting focused on wrongful convictions, police abuse, and government misconduct. Earlier experience includes reporting on federal courts, law enforcement, and public safety at The Times of Northwest Indiana, as well as covering county government, agriculture, and education at The Janesville Gazette. Hinkel began a career in journalism at Capital News Service, focusing on state politics. Hinkel holds a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism and Mass Communications from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
