Madeline Forwerck

Senior Associate at INK Communications

Madeline Forwerck is a communications professional with over four years of experience in the industry. Madeline began their career as an intern at The Borgen Project, a nonprofit organization that works to end global poverty. After their internship, they became the Editor-in-Chief of The Nomad, an annual journal published by the University of North Carolina at Asheville. In this role, they oversaw the compilation, design, printing, and distribution of the journal. Madeline also attended university board and budget meetings to provide updates on the journal.

In November 2018, Madeline became the Social Media Manager for Orison Books, an independent publisher of spirituality and self-help books. In this role, they were responsible for creating and executing social media campaigns to promote the company's books. In May 2020, they left Orison Books to become the Calendar and Listings Editor for Mountain Xpress, a weekly alternative newspaper in Asheville, NC. In this role, they were responsible for curating the paper's calendar of events and writing listings for local businesses.

In January 2021, Madeline became the Community Manager for Thrive Asheville, a nonprofit organization that works to create economic opportunity in Asheville. In this role, they managed projects and events, including workshops, consultations, and public readings. Madeline also fostered a sense of accountability in a team environment and scheduled and organized meetings with the organization's eight-person staff.

In September 2021, Madeline left Thrive Asheville to become a freelance communications consultant. Madeline has since worked with Pear the Agency and INK Communications.

Madeline Forwerck holds a Bachelor of Arts in Professional, Technical, Business, and Scientific Writing from Western Carolina University. Madeline is certified from The State of North Carolina Alcoholic Beverage Control Commission in Responsible Alcohol Seller Program and College Reading & Learning Association in Advanced Certified Tutor.
