Inland Ocean Coalition

The Inland Ocean Coalition is an inland movement that builds land-to-sea stewardship. Our vision is for citizens and communities to take an active role in improving the impacts and relationships between the inland, the coasts, and the ocean. An inland approach is applicable to the 20 states without any ocean coastline, the 7 states bordering the Great Lakes, and the upstream communities in the 23 states that have geographic contact with the ocean.
The Inland Ocean Coalition provides opportunities for individuals and communities to get involved through local campaigns and events, annual meetings with local and national legislative leaders, implementation of watershed initiatives, and strengthening and expanding inland chapters. The Inland Ocean Coalition carries out its mission and vision through the work of its 15 chapters around the United States. We believe strongly that everyone should have a voice in ocean conservation and protection, no matter where they live. As the nation's first Inland Ocean Movement, our goal is to be a wellspring for literacy and community engagement across North America.
