Carolyn Kim is a legal professional with extensive experience in tenant defense, strategic alignment, and family law. Currently serving as Co-Director of the Tenant Defense Project at Inner City Law Center since October 2021, Carolyn has also co-founded Yobo Soju since August 2015. Previous roles include Self-Help Services Manager & Family Law Facilitator at Orange County Superior Court, and various positions at Asian Americans Advancing Justice - Los Angeles, where Carolyn served as Director of Strategic Alignment, Project Director, and Staff Attorney from January 2011 to September 2020. Additional experience includes a Law Clerk position at the ACLU and paralegal work at New York Legal Assistance Group. Carolyn holds a Doctor of Law (JD) from Fordham University School of Law and a Bachelor of Arts in English Language and Literature from Northwestern University.

The only provider of legal services on Skid Row in downtown Los Angeles, Inner City Law Center combats slum housing while developing strategies to end homelessness. Inner City Law Center is recognized for our expertise in housing issues, veterans’ benefits, and homelessness prevention. Our staff of 40, including 20 attorneys, provides quality legal representation for people who have nowhere else to turn. We fight for justice for low-income tenants, working poor families, immigrants, people who are homeless or disabled, and veterans. Driven by the fundamental principle that every person should always be treated with dignity and respect, ICLC works for long-term, positive, and meaningful change.
