Matt Nussbaum

Matthew Nussbaum is an accomplished legal professional with a focus on housing justice and immigrant rights. Currently serving as a Housing Justice Fellow at the Inner City Law Center since August 2021, Matthew previously worked as a Law Clerk at the Alameda County Public Defender from May 2020 to August 2020 and as a Student Advocate in the Immigrant Rights Clinic at New York University School of Law during the academic year of 2019-2020. Additionally, Matthew gained experience as a Legal Intern in Housing and Tenants' Rights at Legal Services NYC in the summer of 2019 and as an Assistant Paralegal at Fragomen from July 2016 to May 2018. Matthew Nussbaum holds a Doctor of Law (JD) from New York University School of Law (2018-2021) and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Stanford University (2012-2016).

The only provider of legal services on Skid Row in downtown Los Angeles, Inner City Law Center combats slum housing while developing strategies to end homelessness. Inner City Law Center is recognized for our expertise in housing issues, veterans’ benefits, and homelessness prevention. Our staff of 40, including 20 attorneys, provides quality legal representation for people who have nowhere else to turn. We fight for justice for low-income tenants, working poor families, immigrants, people who are homeless or disabled, and veterans. Driven by the fundamental principle that every person should always be treated with dignity and respect, ICLC works for long-term, positive, and meaningful change.
