Cynthia Gibson

Cynthia Gibson currently serves as the Chair of the Department of Pediatrics at Inova Children’s Hospital since May 2020, alongside a role as a Pediatric Critical Care Physician and Medical Director of Pediatric Hospitalists at Inova Health System, where tenure began in August 2007. Prior to these positions, Cynthia Gibson had a distinguished military career in the US Navy, retiring as a Captain after serving from June 1996 to July 2021, during which time roles included Senior Mentor and Director of Medical Services. Educational credentials include a Doctor of Medicine from Georgetown University, a Master of Healthcare Administration from Ohio University, and a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Chemistry and Toxicology from the University of Arizona. Additional training includes a Pediatric Residency at Inova Children’s Hospital and a Pediatric Critical Care Fellowship at Children’s National Medical Center.
