Melanie Burney

Melanie Burney is a regional education writer at The Philadelphia Inquirer. Melanie has been with the company since 2008 and in their current position since 2013. Prior to that, they were an editorial writer for PHILADELPHIA NEWSPAPERS/PHILLY.COM from 2008 to 2013. Before that, they were a reporter for the Associated Press from 1986 to 2000. Melanie has also been a parliamentarian for the National Association of Black Journalists from 2003 to 2007 and a board member for the NABJ from 2007 to 2008. Melanie began their career as a freelancer for Courier-Post in 1984.

Melanie Burney's educational career includes a Bachelor of Arts in Communications from Rowan University and a Diploma from Bordentown Regional High School where they were inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2010.
