Margie Ploch has a long and varied work history. Margie began their career in 1982 as the Managing Editor of High Technology Magazine. In 1985 they became the Owner of The Publisher's Edge, providing Macintosh- and PC-based desktop publishing training and consulting services to businesses in Greater Boston and in Austin, TX. In 1994 they became a Consultant and PC Administrator at 3M. In 2005 they were an Instructional Technology Staff at Reading Public Schools. From 2007 to 2009 they were the Director of Reading Adult and Community Education. Margie then became the Director of Reading Community Education & Reading Extended Day from 2009 to 2011. From 2011 to 2014 they were a Product and Project Manager, Science, Technology, and New Initiatives, a Project Manager, Science, and a Product Manager at Segterra (InsideTracker). During this time, they were also a Volunteer Coordinator at the San Diego Mini Maker Faire from 2013 to 2014 and a Maker Coordinator at STEAM Maker Fest in 2014. Since 2014 they have been a Board of Directors at the San Diego Makers Guild, a non-profit group dedicated to foster the maker community and to promote, showcase, and encourage adoption of making to individuals, public and private institutions with the goal of advancing education, innovation, commerce, and self worth.
Margie Ploch earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in English from Yale University.
