Jeremy McDermott is a seasoned journalist and co-director of InSight Crime, where responsibilities include field research in South America and monitoring Andean drug trafficking gangs and guerrilla groups. Previously, McDermott served as the Colombia Correspondent for BBC, focusing on the Colombian civil conflict, and contributed to Janes Intelligence Review, reporting on organized crime and terrorism in Latin America. As a Latin America Correspondent for the Daily Telegraph, McDermott covered significant news stories from Mexico to Argentina. Early career experience includes work as a freelance war correspondent in the Balkans and the Middle East, and a military background as a Captain in the Grenadier Guards. Education includes a Master's degree from The University of Edinburgh and earlier studies at Ampleforth College.
