Ted Hewitt

Ted Hewitt has an extensive work experience in various roles and positions. Ted started their career in 1989 at The University of Western Ontario as a Professor. Ted then moved on to become the Director, Administrative and Commercial Studies, Associate Dean, Associate Vice-President (Research & International Relations), and finally, Vice-President (Research & International Relations) from 1997 to 2011.

In 2012, they joined the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council (SSHRC) where they held the positions of Executive Vice-President and Chief Operating Officer from August 2012 to February 2015, and later became the President in March 2015.

Ted Hewitt also had the opportunity to work with the Government of Canada as the Chair of the Canada Research Coordinating Committee from November 2017 to February 2020. In addition, they briefly served as a Public Policy Scholar at the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars in April to June 2012.

Ted Hewitt earned their Ph.D in Sociology from McMaster University, completing their studies from 1981 to 1985.
