Umar Shakur

Umar Shakur is a highly experienced medical professional specializing in cardiovascular medicine, currently serving as the Corporate Chair of Cardiovascular Medicine at Insight since June 2024 and as Chair of Cardiovascular Medicine at Insight Hospital and Medical Center since June 2022. Prior to these roles, Umar held positions as a Noninvasive Cardiologist at Sturdy Memorial Hospital and Steward Health Care from April 2018 to March 2018, and completed a Cardiology Fellowship at Saint Vincent Hospital from July 2011 to June 2014. Umar's earlier experience includes serving as a Hospitalist and Chief Medical Resident at Memorial Hospital of RI from 2009 to 2011. Umar holds a Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree from the Medical College of Wisconsin and a Bachelor of Arts in English Language and Literature from The University of Chicago.
