Megan Kirk Chang, PhD has extensive work experience in various academic and research roles. Megan currently works as a Senior Researcher at the University of Oxford's Nuffield Department of Primary Care Health Sciences, focusing on the prevention, early diagnosis, and management of common illnesses. Prior to this, they were a Postdoctoral Associate at the Yale Center for Emotional Intelligence, where they conducted research in the School of Medicine. Megan has also worked as a Research Coordinator and Health Coach Supervisor at the University Health Network, where they supervised clinical trials and provided health coaching for men with prostate cancer. In addition, they served as a Faculty Member and Research Lead at Georgian College and as a Health Promotion Advisor at the Southlake Regional Health Centre, where they managed cancer prevention and screening strategies. Megan has also held positions at Insight Timer, MKC Research & Consulting, CAMH, and Hospice Simcoe, where they facilitated mindfulness, yoga, and corporate workshops, conducted research and consulting work, supervised health coaches, and designed and managed hospice palliative care programs.
Megan Kirk Chang, PhD has an extensive education history. Megan received their Postdoctoral Associate degree from Yale University's Yale Center of Emotional Intelligence from 2021 to 2023. Prior to that, they earned their Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Kinesiology & Health Sciences from York University, completing their studies in 2021. Megan also holds an Advanced Doctoral Diploma in Health & Medical Psychology from York University, which they obtained from 2018 to 2021.
Earlier in their academic journey, they pursued a Master of Arts (Kin) degree in Health Psychology and Behavioural Medicine from the University of Victoria, which they completed from 2008 to 2010. Megan also holds a Bachelor of Arts (Co-op) with Distinction from the University of Victoria's School of Exercise Science, Physical and Health Education, obtained between 2003 and 2008.
Additionally, Megan has obtained several certifications to enhance their skill set. Megan is a Certified Mindfulness Facilitator from Mindfulness Without Borders (obtained in August 2018), completed a Trauma-Sensitive Yoga 30-hour Training at the Justice Resource Institute (obtained in February 2018), has training from The National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA) in the NIDA Clinical Trials Network (obtained in January 2018), and has completed Mindfulness Cognitive Behavioural Therapy Training at York University (obtained in December 2016). Megan also holds certifications such as Fundamentals of Hospice Palliative Care from Hospice Palliative Care Ontario (obtained in July 2013), Registered Yoga Teacher with over 200 hours of training from the Canadian Yoga Alliance (obtained in March 2012), and TESL/TOESL Teaching Certification from Oxford Seminars (obtained in September 2010). Additionally, they have Level 1 Coaching Theory certification from the National Coaching Certification Program (obtained in June 2003).
