Laurel graduated from the University of Evansville with a B.S. in Psychology. Shortly thereafter, she started working direct care in a local group home with teens with varying intellectual disabilities. Laurel worked supporting individuals, primarily adults, in residential settings in various roles for 15 years before returning to school and starting work as a Behavior Consultant. Laurel graduated from Ball State University with an M.A. in Applied Behavior Analysis. She has been working as a Behavior Consultant supporting children and adults with differing intellectual disabilities, including Autism Spectrum Disorder, for over three years. Laurel is also part of a collaborative team of American and Kenyan women who have developed and started implementing a training program for caregivers of children with Autism Spectrum Disorders in Western Kenya and rural Indiana. Laurel has been able to travel to Kenya as part of this group and has provided training to Kenyan trainers who have implemented the training program. Laurel has a passion for working with individuals and empowering them and supporting them to navigate life challenges towards meeting their personal goals.
