Jen Morrissey

Principal Ux/ui Designer at Insomniac Design

Jen Morrissey began their career in 2003 as the AU Student Government Director of Design and DC Reads Tutor / Team Leader at American University. In 2005, they were the Summer Camp Assistant Director at Facilitating Leadership in Youth. Jen then joined Facilitating Leadership in Youth in 2006 as a Design Instructor & Media Consultant, developing and teaching a design curriculum for teens at a summer camp and creating an annual newsletter, designing material for various fundraisers and campaigns, and working with youth to develop marketing and design material for their youth-run business. In 2007, they joined the National Association of College and University Attorneys as a Program Communications Specialist, designing and developing all print and web-based material for educational programs, coordinating with staff and members, vendor selection, project management, developing and implementing new online tools and resources, finding new ways to increase program engagement, content auditing and strategy, and web analytics. In 2015, they became a Senior Web Designer at Well & Lighthouse, responsible for designing and developing a variety of digital marketing products including full websites, animated and static display advertising, email and social media graphics, etc. and leading brand creation, development, and implementation across a diverse client list. Jen is currently a Lead UX/UI Designer at Insomniac Design, where they articulate user and product needs through UX methodologies and research, works with clients and teams to develop information architecture, functionality specifications, content strategy, wireframes, and prototypes, and creates responsive UI systems and implements creative visual designs.

Jen Morrissey obtained their BA in Graphic Design (major) and Educational Studies (minor) from American University in 2006. In 2015, they earned a certification in Assembling Sass from Code School. In 2018, they completed a User Experience Design course from General Assembly.
