Peter Gaw BEM has a diverse work experience spanning over three decades. Peter began their career at the Birmingham Chamber of Commerce as a Senior Information Officer in the European Business Centre. Later, they worked for Gwent County Council as a Principal Librarian, followed by a position at Monmouthshire County Council as the Principal Librarian for Information Services. Peter then joined Gloucestershire County Council as the Principal Librarian for Information Services before moving on to the City & County of Swansea as the Strategic Manager for Libraries and Culture. After that, they worked for Nottinghamshire County Council as the Head of Libraries, Archives, Arts, Info, and Community Learning for several years. Currently, they are serving as the Chief Executive Officer of Inspire: Culture, Learning and Libraries, a Community Benefit Society responsible for delivering various cultural, arts, heritage, learning, and library services in Nottinghamshire.
Peter Gaw BEM completed a Certificate in Company Direction at the Institute of Directors (IoD) from 2014 to 2016. Peter also obtained a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree in Librarianship and Information Studies from Birmingham City University, graduating between 1986 and 1990. Additionally, they attended Handsworth Wood Boys from 1976 to 1983.
