Senior Computational Biologist, Research Bio Engineer in BioAI at InstaDeep

Anna Lowegard, PhD has a diverse background in computational biology and bioinformatics. Anna is currently working as a Senior Computational Biologist and Research Bio Engineer in BioAI at InstaDeep Ltd, where they collaborate with a team of machine learning engineers, DevOPs engineers, and UI/UX engineers to develop and utilize AI-based tools for predicting high-risk variants of SARS-CoV-2 and designing vaccines for COVID-19 and biopharmaceuticals for cancer treatment. Prior to that, Anna worked at GSK as an Investigator in Protein Design and Informatics from 2019 to 2021.

Anna's work experience also includes roles at Duke University, where they were a Research Associate in 2019 and a Ph.D. Candidate in Computational Biology & Bioinformatics from 2013 to 2019. During their time at Duke, they also served as the Head Graduate Teaching Assistant from 2017 to 2018. Additionally, Anna worked as an Undergraduate Research Assistant at the Texas Advanced Computing Center (TACC) from 2011 to 2013, and as a CPRIT Summer Intern at the Cancer Prevention and Research Institute of Texas in 2011, where they contributed to the development of statistical methods for the X chromosome analysis.

Anna Lowegard, PhD obtained their Bachelor's Degree in Mathematics (Scientific Computation) and Computational Biology from The University of Texas at Austin from 2009 to 2013. Anna later pursued their Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Computational Biology & Bioinformatics at Duke University, completing their studies from 2013 to 2019. Additionally, Anna obtained a certification in Supervised Machine Learning: Regression and Classification from Coursera in December 2022.
