Ruan de Kock began their work experience in 2012 as a volunteer for Youth With a Mission, where they served as part of the leadership team and led young people in humanitarian programs globally. Ruan then co-founded Kardia in 2016 and served as a Co-Founder until 2018. In 2020, Ruan was selected to participate in the Nedbank Quantitative Exploration Programme and was part of the winning team in a presentation competition. From 2019 to 2021, they worked as an Academic Tutor at Teach Me 2. In 2021, Ruan served as a Data Scientist Intern at Praelexis and later as a Junior Research Engineer at InstaDeep Ltd.

From 2022 to 2024, Ruan attended the University of Cape Town and pursued a Master of Science degree in Artificial Intelligence.
In 2021, Ruan completed a BSc Honours degree in Applied Mathematics from the University of Cape Town.
Between 2018 and 2020, Ruan obtained a BSc degree in Astrophysics & Applied Mathematics from the University of Cape Town.
Additionally, Ruan has obtained several certifications. In August 2020, Ruan received certification in Intermediate Machine Learning from Kaggle. In July 2020, Ruan completed certifications in Intro to Machine Learning and Python from Kaggle. In October 2019, Ruan became a Certified Member (CM) of the Golden Key International Honour Society. Prior to their university education, Ruan earned certifications in Repurposing Business from The Institute for Innovation, Integration & Impact in December 2017, and in Leadership from Youth With A Mission in November 2013.
