Tristan Karch

Research Scientist

Tristan Karch is a Machine Learning Engineer and Research Scientist with a diverse academic and professional background in artificial intelligence and engineering. Experience includes a role at BNP Paribas focused on natural language processing for legal documents, followed by a position as a Lecturer at Université de Bordeaux, where Tristan taught Python programming. Tristan is currently a Postdoctoral Researcher at EPFL, with a focus on data exploration and LLM agents, and has also served as a Teaching Assistant in mathematics and physics. As a Ph.D. Candidate in AI at Inria, Tristan published research in various areas including reinforcement learning and multimodal learning. Currently, Tristan is advancing research on large-scale multi-modal foundation models at InstaDeep. Educational qualifications include a Ph.D. in Computer Science from Inria and dual master's degrees in Mechanical Engineering from EPFL and Machine Learning from ISAE-SUPAERO.
