Marina Cavazzana is a highly accomplished professional in the field of medicine, with extensive experience in hematopoietic stem cell-based biotherapies as the Co-Founder and Acting CMO of Smart Immune since 2017. Additionally, Marina serves as the Head of the Research Laboratory of Human Lympho-Hematopoiesis U1163 at the Imagine Institute of Genetic Diseases since 2014 and leads the Department of Biotherapy at Hôpital Necker-Enfants Malades since 2003. Marina's education includes a Doctor of Medicine (MD) in Pediatrics from Università degli Studi di Padova and multiple advanced degrees from Université Paris Cité, including a PhD, a Postgraduate Degree in Immunobiotechnologies, Immunogenetics & Blood Transfusion, a Master's in Human Biology/Haematology, and a Master's in Human Biology/Experimental Oncology, alongside a certification in Clinical Oncology.

Imagine Institute for genetic disease is a French translational research institute which performs state-of-the-art research in order to better understand genetic diseases. The Institute brings together scientists and physicians around the patients in a unique, ultra-modern 19,000 sqm building located within Necker Children’s Hospital, Paris. The teams also benefit from cutting-edge technological platforms and clinical facilities providing methodological advice as well as huge and rationalized cohorts of patients.
