Fabien Canu is a highly experienced sports professional currently serving as Directeur général at INSEP (Institut National du Sport, de l'Expertise et de la Performance) since September 2021. Prior to this role, Fabien Canu held key positions within the French Ministry of Sports, including Inspecteur général de la jeunesse et des sports from September 2009 to October 2021, and Inspecteur général de l'éducation, des sports et de la recherche from October 2019 to September 2021. Fabien Canu also directed Olympic and Paralympic preparation at the ministry from November 2005 to July 2010. With an extensive background in judo, Fabien Canu was the directeur technique national and directeur du haut niveau at Fédération Française de Judo et Disciplines Associées from January 1993 to October 2005, and a member of Fédération Française de Judo from January 1983 to December 1989. Notably, Fabien Canu is a double world champion (1987, 1989) and triple European champion (1987, 1988, 1989) in the less than 86 kg category, as well as a double gold medalist at the Mediterranean Games (1983, 1987).
