Florian Mueller

Florian Mueller is the Interim Head of the Photonic BioImaging (PBI) platform at the Institut Pasteur, a position held since September 2010, overseeing a mission to advance optical imaging in life sciences through services and R&D projects. In addition, Florian serves as the team leader for the 'Quantitative RNA Imaging' group, focusing on integrating microscopy, wet-lab experiments, and image analysis in RNA biology until December 2026. Previous roles include Staff Scientist, where Florian developed methods for high-precision detection of mRNA molecules, and Postdoc positions at both the Institut Pasteur and the École normale supérieure, focusing on gene expression and transcription. Early career experience includes a Postdoc and Predoctoral fellowship at the National Institutes of Health, concentrating on fluorescence recovery after photobleaching (FRAP) techniques. Educational qualifications feature a Ph.D. in Biophysics from Technische Universität Graz, an M.Sc. in Computational Physics from the University of Graz, and an HDR from Université Paris-Saclay.
