The Institute for Cultural Evolution is a 501c3 nonprofit organization based in Colorado, USA. The Institute was founded by Steve McIntosh and Carter Phipps in 2013 as a boutique think tank focusing on culture war issues.

The Institute’s political position is neither left, nor right, nor centrist. We don’t undertake lobbying efforts or back political candidates, and we’re not associated with any political party. The Institute’s essential value proposition is based on an approach to social challenges known as the developmental or integral perspective. This emerging perspective seeks higher ground and works to synthesize and harmonize the values and positive goals of all sides. The strategies we use to widen perspectives and integrate politically opposed viewpoints are new and unique. Our methods are based on integral philosophy’s fresh insights into how worldviews form and how human culture evolves.
