Maria Mata is currently working as a Bilingual ESL Literacy Coordinator and Adult ESL Literacy Instructor at Instituto del Progreso Latino. Maria has also worked as a Spanish Adult Education Instructor at the same institution during their time as a VOCAL AmeriCorps member. In the past, Maria worked as a Server at Qdoba Restaurant Corporation to pay for their college tuition and as a Library Assistant at NEIU Ronald Williams Library while also attending college. Maria holds a Bachelor's Degree in Spanish Foreign Language from Northeastern Illinois University.

Their mission is to contribute to the fullest development of Latino immigrants and their families through education, training, and employment that fosters full participation in the changing U.S. society while preserving cultural identity and dignity.
