Maile Keli‘ipio-Acoba has a diverse work experience spanning over three decades. Maile started their career as an Employment Service Specialist at the State of Hawaii Department of Labor & Industrial Relations from 1989 to 1994. Maile then worked as a Program Development Manager at the Domestic Violence Clearinghouse and Legal Hotline from 1995 to 1996. After that, they served as the Operations Manager at The Alliance for Health and Human Services from 1995 to 1996. Maile then took on the role of Community Services Director at Community Action of Skagit County from 1996 to 2002. Following this, they became the Director of Human Services at Skagit County from 2002 to 2009, overseeing various programs related to substance abuse treatment, mental health, and developmental disabilities. From 2010 to 2011, they worked as the Housing Program Manager at Honolulu Community Action Program, Inc. (HCAP). In 2011, they joined Kamehameha Schools as a Project Manager, where they notably led the design and development of the Kamehameha Community Learning Center at Ma'ili. Maile'slast two roles have been at the Institute for Native Pacific Education and Culture (INPEACE), where they served as the VP of Programs from 2013 to 2017, and currently holds the position of Chief Executive Officer. In their current role, they are responsible for the strategic direction of the non-profit organization, which focuses on improving the quality of life for Native Hawaiians through community partnerships and educational opportunities.
Maile Keli‘ipio-Acoba holds a Master's degree in Public Administration from the University of Hawaii at Manoa, which they received from 1993 to 1995. Prior to that, they earned a Bachelor's degree in Hawaiian Studies from the same university, attending from 1983 to 1988. Maile completed their high school education at Kamehameha Schools, receiving a High School Diploma from 1977 to 1983.
