Trisha Gura has over 30 years of experience in communications, strategy, and administrative operations. Trisha began their career in 1992 as a Journalist/Reporter for the Chicago Tribune Media Group, where they investigated, wrote, and edited news stories and features for all sections of the newspaper. In 2000, they were a Knight Science Journalism Fellow at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, where they participated in a 9-month fellowship to dig deeper into the craft of writing and technology-related topics. From 2004 to 2008, they worked as an Associate Director of Communications and Senior Science Writer at Boston Children's Hospital, where they worked with fundraisers, researchers, physicians, and philanthropists to create communications for international fundraising. From 2008 to 2018, they were the Director of Marketing and Communications at T1D Exchange, a non-profit that seeks to accelerate the development of therapies and improve the lives of people living with type 1 diabetes. In 2018, they took on the role of Director of Communications and Senior Strategist at the Institute for Protein Innovation, and in 2020 they became the Director of Communications, Strategy, and Administrative Operations.
Trisha Gura completed their education in the following order: Lake Catholic High (1978-1982), Xavier University (1982-1986) where they earned a BS in pre-med, and Northwestern University (1986-1990) where they earned a PhD in molecular biology.
