Peter Zimri

Peter Zimri (M.Inst.D) currently serves as an Executive Councillor at the Independent Communications Authority of South Africa (ICASA) and holds the position of Chairperson of the IMT Spectrum Licensing Committee, leading South Africa's inaugural radio frequency spectrum auction. Responsibilities include competition assessment, spectrum valuation, and licensing phases. Peter also chairs the Spectrum Resources Committee, focusing on national frequency planning and preparation for the World Radiocommunication Conference 2023. With experience spanning over two decades in telecommunications, Peter has held various significant roles, including past leadership at international forums such as the African Telecommunications Union and the International Telecommunication Union, and has contributed to the development and regulation of ICT policies across Southern Africa. Educational qualifications include a Master's degree in ICT Policy and Regulation from the University of the Witwatersrand and a background in electrical and electronic engineering.
