Viral Shukla has a diverse work experience in the food industry and academic research. Viral served in various leadership roles at the Institute of Food Technologists Student Association (IFTSA), including President Elect, Board Member, Vice President of Membership Experiences, Vice President of Chapter Engagment, Chair of the Pacific Southwest Area, and Chair of the Chapter of the Year Award. Additionally, Viral worked as a Graduate Research Assistant at Cornell University, a Consultant for the American Association for Precision Medicine (AAPM) on their Coronavirus Taskforce, and in Quality Assurance at Kerry. Viral also gained research experience as a Research Fellow and Research Associate at California State Polytechnic University-Pomona, where they conducted research on edible films, gluten-free products, and encapsulation techniques. Viral also worked as a Technical Lead at System of Food Evolution, an extern at Bon Appétit Management Company @ Google, and as a Managing Cook at AV Catering Company.
Viral Shukla is currently pursuing a graduate degree in Food Processing Waste Technology at Cornell University. Prior to this, they obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Food Science and Technology, with a minor in Culinology, from California State Polytechnic University-Pomona. Viral also participated in a study abroad program at Universidad Pública de Navarra, where they explored Spanish Food Systems. In terms of certifications, Viral holds a Lean Six Sigma Green Belt from The Council for Six Sigma Certification (CSSC), HACCP Certification from the International HACCP Alliance, and a Food Protection Manager Certification, Food Handlers Certification, Guest Service Gold, and Responsible Alcohol Handler Certification from ServSafe Certified. Additionally, they have a Diploma from Amador Valley High School.
