Dr. Sara Harrison is an accomplished hazard and risk social scientist with extensive experience in research related to social science aspects of risk management. Currently serving at Earth Sciences New Zealand and GNS Science since June 2018, Dr. Harrison focuses on warnings, crowdsourcing, social media, risk communication, and science advice production and delivery. Notable work includes leading the design of crowdsourcing tools for hazard information collection. Dr. Harrison holds a PhD in Emergency/Disaster Management from Massey University, where research involved stakeholder engagement in hydrometeorological risk communication. Previous roles include a Research Fellow at the Weizenbaum Institute and various positions in GIS and environmental analysis.
